Red Kangaroo
The
Red Kangaroo is the largest living marsupial. Males reach heights
of over five feet and weigh 180 pounds or more. These unique
animals can only be found in Australia. Kangaroos generally feed on
grass and selected short green plants. Kangaroos can jump eight
feet high, leap distances up to fourteen feet and reach speeds of up to
forty miles per hour. Kangaroos breed year-round. Mothers
keep the young in a pouch located near the abdomen, as with other
marsupials.
