Pronghorn
The
pronghorn lives in the grasslands of Canada, the United States and
western Mexico. Standing three feet, three inches at the shoulder and
weighing up to 155 pounds, the pronghorn is one of the fastest land
mammals on earth. The pronghorn is a diurnal eater and subsists on a
variety of plants. It lives in herds, and males protect their territory
vigorously during the mating season. Females give birth to two young
after a 250-day gestation period.
