John O’Connel

John O’Connel is the first human to participate in the Beast Bowl for thousands of years. He brings a whole new look and philosophy to the West Team. Unlike his predecessor, Coach O’Connel brings in a wide open offense modeled after what he described as the West Coast offense, where the pass is the mainstay and up to five receivers litter the field on a play.

Coach O’Connel has much to prove. We eagerly await the start of the game to see if he has succeeded where so many predicted he would fail. Regardless of how we feel about him—and these are tough times to feel any empathy for a human—there is a part inside all of us that wants to trust him and see him field a good team. We all know this may be the last Beast Bowl ever played and we want to see a great, competitive game.
